About LJ Electric

LJ Electric At A Glance

LJ Electric’s portfolio covers large-scale commercial builds, including multi-family housing, HUD- and CHFA-financed developments, schools, municipal facilities, and tenant fit-outs, as well as residential updates that demand the same level of code compliance and professional oversight. From full remodels and service upgrades to generator and EV charger installations, we apply the same discipline and precision whether the work is inside a four-story apartment complex or a single home.

Our crews are handpicked apprentices, veterans, and electricians who have built their careers with us because they share our standard: do the job right the first time.

Our commitment shapes the way we hire and the way we train

LJ Electric is registered with both the State of Connecticut and the federal government as an apprenticeship provider, including veteran apprenticeship programs. Every apprentice is officially registered before setting foot on a job site to guarantee safety and compliance from the start. We build our crews on skill and integrity at the forefront so that anybody with the ambition to learn and the drive to deliver quality work has a place here. That principle has defined our workforce for decades, producing electricians who have set the standard for the industry.

What We Stand For

The electrical scope of a project is rarely simple. Every delay risks liquidated damages, every failed inspection ripples through other trades, and every subcontractor decision can make or break a schedule. LJ Electric was built to take that risk off the table.

We deliver:

  • Crews trained and registered through state and federal apprenticeship programs, including veteran programs

  • Electricians developed through our own ranks, ensuring consistency and accountability on every job

  • Performance on short-duration projects that need to turn in one to three months

  • Reliability on large-scale builds spanning six months to two years or more

  • Electrical systems designed and installed to pass inspection the first time

  • A partner who treats deadlines and budgets with the same urgency as the GC

A Great Place to Work

The strength of LJ Electric in the field comes from the way we invest in our team. We do more than train electricians to meet a standard — we give them a reason to stay and build their careers here. That stability is why many of our crew members have been with us for ten to twenty years.

Employees receive competitive pay and benefits packages, including:

  • Full health insurance

  • 401(k)

  • Paid holidays & vacations

  • Company vehicles for eligible roles

Community Involvement

LJ Electric has always believed that the measure of success goes beyond the job site. The same principles that guide our projects — accountability, loyalty, and long-term commitment — shape the way we give back to the community that has supported us for five decades.

Our contributions include:

  • Chrysalis Center: Providing opportunities and resources for women and families building new lives

  • Berlin High School Robotics Team: Supporting STEM education and student competition at a regional level

  • Franco-American Club Scholarships: Funding education and skills local youth

  • Sponsorship: Animal rescues, youth sports, and other kid-focused programs across the region

Awards and Recognition

Excellence on the job site has earned LJ Electric recognition across the industry. In 2017, the company received the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction Award — First Place for Historic Restoration/Renovation.

This honor was given for our role on the Loom City Lofts Project, where a historic textile mill was transformed into a modern residential complex.

The project required strict adherence to preservation standards while integrating fully code-compliant electrical systems. Our work helped bring new life to the property and set a benchmark for how historical restoration can meet the demands of contemporary construction standards.

The award reflects what defines LJ Electric every day: disciplined crews, quality installations, and projects that stand the test of time. With the next generation stepping into leadership, that same standard will continue to guide our work on multi-family developments, HUD housing, municipal facilities, and large-scale commercial builds across Connecticut.

Moving Forward

LJ Electric’s history is built on loyalty, accountability, and the belief that every project deserves workmanship that lasts long after the ribbon is cut.

As the company prepares future leaders and electricians, that foundation will continue to support projects of every scale from single-home service upgrades to multi-story commercial developments.

Every project is a promise: We finish what we start, and we stand by the work.

The next decade will see LJ Electric continuing to deliver multi-million-dollar projects while preparing the next generation to carry the company forward. For general contractors, developers, and estimators, that means having a partner ready to meet deadlines, pass inspections, and complete builds throughout the state. Together we will keep the lights on and the power running in Connecticut.
